Pedas are a wonderful and delicious mithai (sweets) that are very popular and are often served during Diwali, the festival of lights. Traditionally, they are made from milk that has been cooked and cooked and cooked until it thickens. They have a smooth and silky texture and just melt in your mouth. Since one Peda is never enough, we have a simplified version that is just as tasty and a lot easier to make. Another interesting fact about Pedas…a lot of people distribute sweets (mithai) when a baby is born in the family. If it is boy, Pedas are given out and if it is a girl, it’s usually Burfi. But it doesn’t have to be Diwali or you don’t have to have a birth in the family to enjoy this mithai. Enjoy Pedas anytime with this quick and easy recipe. Bon Appetite.

Instant Nonfat Dry Milk (Milk Powder)is what is written on the package and is available at any grocery store in the coffee/creamer aisle. You can buy Carnation brand or any local store brand as well.

I had these at Prabha’s Diwali party and fell in love with them!
I’m so happy that they look so easy to make. I plan on making them for three upcoming parties this weekend.
My question is: will they stay fresh for a few days in the refrigerator, as they await delivery to the various parties I’m attending?
