Rice Crispies is every kid’s favorite and here is a perfect combination of the ‘taste’ and the ‘look’ without the usual mess and so very easy to make. Forget about the kids, I was so excited the 1st time I laid my eyes on these fantastic treats! Ice Cream Coney Treats are here to stay!
Prep time: 0 min
Cook time: 10 min
Serves: 6-8 small cones
Ingredients:
Rice Puffs Cereal – 1 cup
Butter – 1/2 tbsp
Mini Marshmallows – 2/3 cup
Ice Cream Cones – as needed
Sprinkles – assorted (optional)
Method:
1. Melt the butter in an open pan on medium heat.
2. Once the butter has melted, add in the Marshmallows and allow them to melt as well.
3. Turn off the stove and add in the Rice Puff Cereal. Mix well.
4. Allow the mixture to cool down for a couple of minutes.
5. Take a little bit of mixture and stuff it into the cone to form it like an ice-cream cone.
6. Roll in sprinkles and it’s ready to serve.
Tips;
1. For a variation-
- Lay the mixture on a wax paper, flatten it out and cut with cookie cutter.
- Make balls or Ladoos

This looks VERY interesting. In fact, I am giving the recipe to a friend, because her mom will be making it for her, and she will be bringing it for school, for her friends.
Wish you ladies good luck in the future!

Yes, it is OK to make them ahead. I would suggest you store them in an air-tight container so it does not loose it’s crunchy-ness!

Hi Aiman,
I am not a big fan of marshmallows either, but in this recipe you can’t tell that they are there.
Marshmallows are very important for this recipe because they not only provide sweetness to the comes but also help bind together.
Give it a shot and you’ll be amazed!

connecting to what you said Anuja, You could also use sweetend condenced milk, but you would have to increase the amount of rice puffs. It would taste equally the same.

In the cone, is an innovative idea, but My MIL makes these sooo much since my hubby was a child and we do get such ladoos in India – Instead of Marshmallows u can use gur or jaggery for sweetness and binding.

We have not personally tried it, but it could work. You may want to try a small batch so as not to waste.

Wow! what a cool idea!! I make rice krispies all the time but never thought of this before. Thanks for a great idea. Just a suggestion for Aiman, I use marshmallow fluff (since marshmallows contain gelatin) to make my rice krispies and it works just as well as marshmallows and you can heat it up in a pan with butter just keep it on low heat.

Hi, I want to make this for my niece’s birthday but she cant have marshmallows. Is there anything i can use as a substitute? Also I was wondering if I can use plain murmura instead of the Kellog’s rice krispies for this.

Hi Trisha,
The marshmallows are the binding force in this recipe that keeps the cereal together so they are necessary. We have not come across anything else that works similarly. Maybe some of our viewers can contribute any ideas they may have. Also, rice krispies have a certain amount of flavor to them as opposed to murmura, which are almost flavorless. So to answer your question…yes, you can use murmura. Thye will provide the same texture but the taste will be different.

I was thinking the same thing as a few other people about the marshmallows. I found this, http://vegweb.com/index.php?topic=6559.0
Also, there are a brand of marshmallows called “dandies” that do not have gelatin or egg whites. They are pricey and hard to find though. I have seen recipes for rice crispy treats before that had a mix of peanut butter and a sugar syrup as well.
