Dalgona Frothy Coffee | Homemade Whipped Cappuccino

Dalgona Coffee is such a rage and a trend right now, it is just amazing!

For the people who grew up in South-East Asia, know is fancy “Dalgona Coffee” as “Phenti Hui Coffee” (Whipped Coffee) or Cappuccino! What it really does for me is bring back some memories of burning the midnight lamp during exams, trying to make this coffee and stay awake!
The whipping of the Sugar and Instant Coffee, with Hot Water, makes the mixture this smooth, creamy, velvety blend that is just so satisfying and comforting at the same time. Well, I for one, am so glad this simple, basic Phenti hui Coffee has found a place for itself and is finally getting it’s due! Way to go…

  1. Hi ladies!
I love your recipes and videos. To see you both cooking and presenting always makes me happy. Have lived in Sri Lanka and have been to India several times, appreciating the country and its food so much, I miss it a bit now. Actually living in Curacao, and just looked for a good recipe of lassi. I made one with tamarind yesterday, but I wanted the traditional lassi. And then after the lassi, came to this delicious coffee, I am sure we will love it, especially in this warm climate. Better than a frozen cappuccino from Starbucks ! And because of the lock down I have some pots of instant coffee ready 🙂 Go on with the good work ladies !

  2. Hi,
Thanks. Looks good and I’m sure it taste good :-). Which brand of coffee would be best?

BTW thanks for all the new recipe e-mails. Appreciate it.

  3. When I add the water, most of the instant coffee dissolves, but some forms lumps that stick together and won’t dissolve or beat in no matter what so I just pick them out and throw them away. Any thought as to why that is happening?

    1. Hi Heidi,
Are you using hot water? If you are this should not happen. And please use Instant Coffee.
Other than that, can’t think of any other reason ?

  4. If you use only a few drops of water and NOT 1 tablespoon, you will find that you are able to whip this up very quickly by hand

  5. I remember this from when you first posted it – has it really been 9 years?! Since then, coffee pods have become a household item. This is much more environmentally friendly.

    1. Hi Mona,
So true! Everyone is using pods these days, think it’s time to start thinking of the environmental fact as well.
Hope you are well and Stay Safe and Healthy!
