Sometimes we come across a vegetable that needs very little frills to make it an attractive and tasty dish, Asparagus is top on that list. Here will have prepared the Asparagus with garlic (lots of it) and salt and no other spices and the results are absolutely amazing. The flavor of the Asparagus, the simplicity of the dish and the eye appeal make this a great hit.
Prep Time: 10 min
Cook Time: 10 min
Serves: 4-6
Ingredients:
Asparagus – 2 lb (approx 1 kg)
Olive Oil – 1 tbsp
Garlic – 5-6 large cloves, roughly crushed
Lemon/Lime Juice – 1 tbsp
Salt – to taste
Black Pepper Powder – to taste
Method:
1. Wash the Asparagus and cut to desired size (we cut to one thirds)
2. In a pan, heat Olive Oil and add in the crushed Garlic cloves on medium heat.
3. Allow the Olive Oil and Garlic to get heated up and then add in the Lemon/Lime juice.
4. Right after that add in the Salt and mix.
5. Immediately after that add in the cut Asparagus.
6. Increase the heat to high.
7. Toss continuously for 8-10 min, till the Asparagus is cooked.
8. Add in Black Pepper Powder to taste and mix.
9. Take it off the flame and serve hot!
Tip:
1. Serve immediately or else the Asparagus will let water go.
2. Do no cover and cook as it may change color and sweat a lot.
3. Use an open pan and try not to crowd the vegetable in the pan.
4. Try not to over-cook the Asparagus, the crunch is great.

Hi Gals,
I am very sad today. I did so many preparations, made this garlic asparagus. I have so much faith in you two, that me and my husband had too high expectations. But, may be it’s because we tasted asparagus first time, our taste buds are not used to it.

Thanks Anisha!
This particular pan was purchased from Bed Bath & Beyond. We don’t have one particular store the we go to…we just pick up things along the way as we see them

Thanks for replying so quickly, Hetal. I remember seeing something like this in BB&B a while ago(think it was the Invitations brand, please correct me if I’m wrong). I’ve gone back since and they don’t carry it anymore.
I’ve spent the last few hours just watching a bunch of your videos, feeling inspired to try a few recipes tomorrow.

Hi,
This recipe is so simple and looks so yummy.I just have a comment here. Any time we cook food on high heat it is not advised to use olive oil as it goes rancid at high temperatures.Butter may be a better option here.
Thanks
Sridevi.

Hi Sridevi,
There is enough moisture from the asparagus and lemon juice to be able to cook it on high heat (even with Olive Oil). Olive Oil cannot be used for frying. Butter is not a good option for high heat because the dairy solids will burn. Ghee can be used though.
