Cleaning your microwave is very important but you don’t want to clean it with a spray that has chemicals. After all, you will be heating your food in the same place. Go Green and use this method that will make you smile and feel good from the inside! Here is ShowMeTheCurry’s take on cleaning your microwave:
Method:
1. Take a microwave safe mug or a bowl.
2. Fill it up to 3/4th of the way full.
3. Put it in the Microwave and turn it on high for 2-3 minutes.
4. Let it sit in the Microwave for another 5 minutes.
5. Allow the condensation from the water to loosen up the dirt, the grit and the grime.
6. Open after 5 minutes and clean with a paper towel or a washcloth.

hey rupa,
Everytime u cook, have a wet kitchen cloth next to u. Once u are done with the cooking, wipe the outside of the MW to remove splatters from ur kadai, cookers , oil residues etc…and pat dry with a kitchen towel. I do it all the time..though i have a black MW..
Trust me this methid really helps..very much indian..

Just clean it frequently with some soap water and wipe it dry . If you clean it often then it won’t be blackish

Add 3-5 drops of lemon juice to the water in the cup…It works as a cleansing agent…Rest of the procedure is the same…
I have been using this method for a long time..it helps to fight the tough yellow stains…
Cheers

Hi
a precaution for all those using this tip. whenever u boil just water in microwave, DO NOT open the microwave and take it out immediately. Coz, even if water looks normal on surface, its agitated from inside when heated in microwave and can give u first degree burns. it is always suggested not to boil plain water in microwave!!
if u take it out after 5 mins, thats pretty safe!!

Few drops of lemon juice[as mentioned by niyati] is good. Add Soda bicarbonate to the water this will dislodge food sticky film.

Hi,
Another way to clean and remove the microwave odor faster is to boil a cup of water with a lemon ( cut lemon) in it. Boil it for 2 minutes and wipe the microwave with a paper towel

Hello, I only know a tiny, tiny basic bit about Indian cookery but recently went into an Indian supermarket here in the UK and bought lots of things, including a huge bag of DRIED ONIONS – but how are you supposed to use them? Any advice you could give would be most helpful – thank you.

Hi Helga,
Dried (or fried) onions are mainly used in making biryani. See here: http://showmethecurry.com/rice-dishes/vegetable-biryani-indian-rice-recipe.html. You can also add them to yogurt to make a quick yogurt flavored raita.
