For the spicy one try – red chilly powder, salt, ginger-garlic paste, pour some water and make it a fine paste. Add some milk and mix it well. Add egg and blend everything nicely. Dip the bread and roast it and serve it with a hot n spicy sauce.

Hi Sujatha,
Unfortunately, French Toast cannot be made without eggs (at least we have not seen it). The Kottu Parotta can definitely be made without the egg. You can just leave it out or add some yogurt or crumbled paneer.

I like it savory but the rest of my family loves the authentic one.

Hi Hetal & Anuja
I liked this recipe but I do not eat eggs. Can I use flaxseed/powder instead of the egg. You showed that on your Tip Tuesday. Will it work well?
Please reply soon.
Thanks!

Hi Alka,
French toast is probably not a good recipe to try out the flaxseed powder. It works best in recipes that egg is not a central focal point.

I made the spicy french toast for breakfast today. They were spectacular! I’m going to make them in small squares as appetizers for my next party

Hi Hetal and Anuja,
I watch your videos not only for the recipes, but also for the nice kitchenware that you use. You have the right things needed for the kitchen. I am waiting for your kitchen store to be up.
What pan are you using in this video? it does not look like the tawa we get from India. And are you placing it on 2 flames?
I have another silly question. What is that checkered board you have underneath? I see it in most of your videos. Does it serve any purpose or is it just used to accent your video? I’m very curious. Please let me know.

Hi Narmada,
Thank you for your nice email!
The kitchen store should be up and running in a couple of days. Meanwhile, here are all the answers to the questions you had:
The long pan is called a dual burner skillet and it can be bought at Bed Bath and Beyond and other bigger kitchen stores. And yes, it does go on 2 burners.
The checkered thing is a chopping board…we do use it but it is basically to add a new dimension to the show

Hi Aarti,
Here is a idea I got from an Aunt – take some roasted Rava and mix some buttermilk in it, spice it with some masalas and dip the bread and cook it the same way as shown in the video. She said it was great – different but great. Let me know if you do try it out
