A great dessert recipe that just can’t be any easier!
Ingredients:
Jalebi – 3, big or to taste
Whole Milk – 2 cups
Eggs – 2
Method:
1. Break the eggs into the milk and gently hand blend it well all together.
2. Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (177 degrees Celsius).
3. Grease the dish that you will bake in with cooking spray.
4. Break the Jalebis into bite size pieces and put it into the baking dish.
5. Pour in the Milk and Egg mixture.
6. Put the dish into the oven to cook for 1 hour, uncovered.
7. Once out of the oven, allow it to stand for 5-10 minutes.
8. Loosen the edges and flip the pudding into a platter for serving.
9. Jalebi Pudding is best served hot. Serves 4-6.
Tips:
1. Do not eat/serve the pudding straight out of the oven, it is very hot and can burn.
2. You don’t have to flip the pudding but the presentation is a lot better.

Hi Sejal,
If the glass dish is oven-safe than it is OK to use it in the oven. If I were you, I would not put it in if I am not sure. There are a lot of glass and pyrex dishes that are oven proof/ oven safe.
Cheers!

Hi Hetal & Anuja,
I don’t know what I did wrong with this one.. especially since it’s so straight-forward to begin with. My pudding was quite liquidy in the middle, and the yolk part of the egg seemed to have surfaced to the top. Not only did it have a clearly more yellow colour; I could also clearly taste the egg. I put it back in for an extra 20 mins, but didn’t seem to do much. Maybe I’ll try making this again in a less deep, but wider dish. Hopefully it’ll work then.

Hetal and Anuja,
Terrific work! I’m wondering if you have a dessert for a bread pudding or a desi version of something very close to that on this site. There’s a special lady friend who absolutely adores it and I’d love to be able to cook for her.
Best regards.

Hi Ria,
We’ve not tried this recipe with just sugar, but it probably will not have the right texture.

Hi Riz,
We have not tried to make this recipe in the microwave but would imagine that it may boil over.

Hi Riz,
You might be able to make this with a steaming method (similar to idli or dhokla). Put some water in a large pan and let it boil. Place another plate inside the pan with your mixture. It should rest on something to keep it from sinking in the water. Cover and steam until done. We have never tried this method so if you try it, please make a smaller batch.

Thank you so much for the exceptional pudding recipe. could you kindly tell me how to put into oven… I should use water underneath the bowl or not? When I do the regular pudding I put water under the bowl. Please let me know.

Hi Sharmeen,
Yes, most egg-based pudding do need the water bowl under them, but not this one
