  1. Hi! Hetal and Anuja, I love yours tips and recipes. I have tried few of them and was really satisfied with it. I have one question for u about cleaning of hardwood floors.

Do you know any best and easy way of making homemade hard wood floor cleaning solution?

    1. Hi Prachi,

I use a hardwood cleaner that I get from Costco, but I have used plain vinegar mixed with warm water before and it works well.

  3. Hi!
I was looking at the tips and here is what I would like to share. I have already tried all this and it works great.

For copper, besides tamarind u can just apply some tomato sauce and let it stay for 5 minutes and washes it. Or u can also use lemon and salt paste on it.

For stainless steel, just take some olive oil on a tissue and rub it on appliances and after that rub it with dry tissue or cloth.

For silver, I first applied colgate paste on the items and let it remain as it is. And than in a bowl wrapped with aluminium foil add boiled water and vinegar (in equal amount) + salt + baking soda and than place the silver items along with colgate paste on it in this bowl and give it 15 minutes. Than just scrub a little with brush if needed and wash off. The items I washed with this method, its more than a month now and they are shinning still.

  4. Can you please give us some cool tips on how to remove are water stains from kitchen sinks and vessels. We get hard water in Michigan .

  5. To clean silver vessels, jewellery and idols:
Things needed: Aluminium foil, baking soda, salt boiling water, big glass bowl
first take the glass bowl, put the aluminium foil inside then put baking soda and salt and then add the boiling water. Now put the the silver items to be cleaned inside this bowl and wait for 10-15 minutes then take these items out and wipe it with paper towel or kitchen towel. It will look like brand new items just bought from shop.

  6. Which food processer is good for big shreddead cabbage i have now but its very tiny and watery so let me know.

    1. Hi Varsha,

To shred cabbage, you must use the large metal blade that you would use for slicing (not the metal chopping one and not the shredding one). You are probably using the shredding blade normally used for shredding carrots or cheese. This blade will make your cabbage watery.

  7. Hi,
Can you help me to find a best food processor for shredding cabbage and carrot, heading dough, cutting veges?

    Thank you
    Deepthy

  8. Congrats on the book (“The Healthy Indian Diet”), Hetal & Anuja! I recently came across this intriguing and well put-together title at my local B&N… and had brought it home and begun reading it before I realized, “Hey, this is by the women from ShowMeTheCurry!” Nice, solid work. I’m just reading Aggarwal’s “Healing Spices” too right now, which is along similar lines–would highly recommend both these books to anyone interest in the subject.

Thanks for this tip about the stainless cleaner. Tried it and it really works well. Only thing is, for appliances like electric kettles, toasters and so on that come in close or direct contact with food, I hate to use the petroleum-baded products like baby oil. I’m going to try an experiment based on your great tip, only with ingestible products (I was thinking a high-proof vodka and a clean, light cooking oil might produce similar results?) Saw someone else here commented they’d heard of olive oil being used as a stainless cleaner, so I figure this ought to work as a substitute.

Keep up the great work you go and best wishes for your continued success!

    1. Hi Jim,

Thanks so much for your support! Interesting idea about using edible ingredients for the cleaner (never thought about it). Please let us know how it works out for you.

  9. Hi Hetal & Anuja

  13. Hi everyone,
I think this is a good place to share my tips…. do u want to clean your copper bottom cookware… try my tip…. it really works good. just clean it with tamarind juice or paste….. you will not belive your eyes..

      1. Hi Hetal

I think Ajax is like our Indian bleaching powder – very harmful to our hands and health. There is a safer product called bar keepers friend that is available in bed bath beyond and other stores. This works great on stainless steel utensils – gives it a nice polish as well.
        Try it out!!

  14. Hi Anuja and Hetal Didi,

Thank u so much for the tip. It is a very inexpensive tip and a great way to preserve the environment.
Just a quick question! Which Aisle in a American store can we find the Rubbing Alcohol. I remember studying about isopropyl alcohol in my 12th standard in Organic chemistry. Had that in Chemistry Lab too.. would have got that if i had seen ur website in 2002! 🙂
    Thanks Again.
also, Hetal didi, ur shirt is very nice. Can u please tell me from where u got it? Both are looking very cute today. Promise !

    1. In response to comment no.4 : You got a remember that this is a cooking website and not a salon website ! Instead you should appreciate the efforts put by Hetal and Anuja in providing easy, simple and healthy recepies. It is indeed lame on your part to ask about salon things ( Waxing, etc!!) when this is cooking website and deals with aspects related with it. If you do a google search, it should answer all your dumb demands which really are odd in the first place. God bless !

  16. Wonderful tip hetal and anuja!!. Is there a similar tip to clean wooden cabinets and furniture?

    Thanks a ton!

      1. Back home in India, we used coconut oil and a soft, old cloth to rub the furniture. Of course, you have to dust the furniture first. The furniture will have a varnish effect.
